Outside Temperature Guage
Outside Temperature Guage
Hello
My 2004 Ford F150 outside temperaute guage (mini version not full). It has compass heading then xxxF and the odometer below.
The guage is stuck it starts at 69 and goes as low as 66 but never above 69. It worked fine up until about a week ago. Is there a way to reset or recal this temp guage. Or where the sensor is located maybe it needs to be cleaned or cleared of debris?
Thanks
Dennis

Do a search for ambient temperature sensor.
Located in front of the radiator.
Use an ohmmeter to test. should be in the range of 8K -20k I think when its 65-85F
Cant fix it....only replace it....dreaded dealer part
Must stop speaking in spidey lingo

Not sure if its related, but I just received a notification from my dealer that there is a recall in something in the information center in the instrument cluster so I need to take mine in and have them fix it for free.
The recall is just a recalibration for ABS issues and does not affect the 04.
There was however some problems with temp sensor calibration on early 04 new body style that also requires recalibration of the PCM but this usually effected the operation of the A/C and was not a recall.

I liked the display in my '01 better than these new ones. It was mounted up in the overhead console so it was visible for the passenger also. Tired of the wife asking me what the temp. is or stretching over to read it. I think Ford sometimes changes things just for the sake of change, without thinking if the change is an actual improvement.
