I have a 90 ext version and when driving down the interstate around 65 mph and go over those bridge thingies the front really bounces,. It has 74xxx miles and I am not sure if the original shocks are on there or not. Even if I put on some new heavy duty shocks can I continue to expect the big bounces. Kinda concernes me because I may have some wieght in the rear or pulling a trailer.
It sounds like the front dampers (shocks) are worn out, and mo longer damping out the suspension motions. Properly functioning dampers should damp out the motion in less than 2 bounces. Better get them replaced soon, and check the rear to see if they need to be replaced as well.
Based on my own experience, I would suggest something better than Monroe's Sensatrac.
the front heavy Aero puts high loads on front shocks with the weak springs in front...wear out quickly 30k is max, less on rough roads...
Tokico no longer makes Aero AWD shocks, best there was...don't know about 2wdr
your best avail now is KYB, avail in 2wdr and AWD for Aero
cheap standard size shockers are not worth the time and pain to put on an Aero....get the heaviest duty gas shocks you can afford
Thanks I was also leaning toward replacing the springs. Not sure what the stock spring rate is on it now. So the KYB is the best heavy duty shock available? I think I'll replace the shocks first and look around for some better springs

The shocks are almost certainly the culprit, if you push down hard on the front (somehow), & release, the front should bounce 1 or 2 times only, no more. Multiple bouncing means the damping effect of the shocks is not working: which likely means there is no oil or the damper valve is defective ,since they are probably sealed units you cant do nothing about it. They are done. Springs sag over time, they can also break, but generally only if they are doing extra duty for too long. Springs are usually rated in the millions of duty cycles.
Check your ride height to see if the springs are worn out or at least check for breakage when your in there doing the shocks. I found a broken coil when I replaced my shocks in the fall.
oh2bnok, you can save yourself some money by looking for an salvage bronco or newer style Ford Ranger picup. These share the guts and under pining with the Aero's. Some even have thicker diameter coils. Happy hunting.
