I'd go with the Dura Spark II setup from the mid 70's.You'll need a distributor from a 360 or 390.Those are the only engines that will fit.You will also need the module. If you can find a setup in a salvage yard get the wiring harness with it.A wiring diagram for the system will show you how to wire it.Hope this helps.

Try finding a DuraSpark setup from 1974/75 or 78/79. The modules have a square plastic color coded piece of plastic where the wires plug in. Stay FAR away from the RED modules used in 1976/77...that module was nothing but trouble from day one, and continues to be a PITA today. In 1976/77 there were 1000's of customers Fords nationwide that were parked on dealers service lots, because that POS RED module was NFG. Of course the replacement module was on D99 back order, so it took Ford months to replace them all. Some of the replacement modules (original part number = D7AZ-12A199-A) were also NFG. Over time, those same RED modules have continued to fail, so you don't want that type now.

D99, the dreaded Ford parts code that means back ordered Detroit. It means that Ford has none available, and whatever part is D99 might take months to get. Parts can still be D99 today.

Bill, Please be careful, with no futher explanation you suggested to use 78-79 parts. 76 was the last year that the FE was used, so should the original poster go hunting all parts from a 77-79 he will be searching for something that he can't find.

He can use the later module, but will have to find the FE dist before 77 year model.

John

Although the schematic is good most users swapping things over prefer this Illustration.
when gathering parts and see how they relate.

Can you tell me what dist. will be good for a 302. I have the complete setup from Edelbrock Performer-Plus. Manifold #2121,Camshaft & Lifters #2122,and 600 CFM Square-Flange W/manual choke. The int270-exh280 @.050 204-214@cam-.280-.295 @valve.448-.472. I ported & polished it.I got shorty headers.I hope it will get up a little.I've put many hours into it and now i got the truck i've been wanting for along time.72 SWB F100 Sport Custom. I got a C6 with a shift kit and had some valve body work done on it also with a 2500 stall sling shot convertor.

<!--StartFragment -->f you decide to get a new distributor, consider our custom curved Duraspark Distributor built with our new Full Length Oil Impregnated Bronze Bushing. The full length bushing improves timing stability and spark scatter. If stock appearance is not an issue, take a look at our one piece D.U.I. Distributor. Whether you choose the Duraspark or the D.U.I., we curve each on a distributor machine based on your engine combination. Please see them at:
