Monroe shocks #5826 is listed for front 2wd and 4wd shocks. When I ordered them though the studs were quite a bit longer. I took my old shock in and the parts guy said he could get a shorter stud length in a KYB shock. I will let you know the part number tommorrow when I pick them up. I did look up Autozone and they listed 4x4 shocks for front and back and they were a Gabriel Guardian shock. What kind of a shock did you get for the rears? I went with a Monroe. It actually fits a toyota but is the same set up with the stud and eye and the length and travel is the same as my old ones.
I went with the Monroe also on the rear through NAPA. Had them check twice and came up empty handed on frt. Also had checke with our Checker, Carquest, and Parts Plus. But it's pretty secluded up here.
I checked today and the Gabriel shocks are too short. I re-looked at the Monroe front shocks and tried them on my truck and they work!! The stud that attached to the axle was longer than the original one but it clears well and the travel of the shock is good. I would recommend them. The part number for Monroe is 31069 and they are a gas charged shock.
thanks for the info. I'll probably run with that. Have you done a steering stabilizer on yours? I believe I'll add one. Still running factory 16" rims with 10 ply tube military looking tire that are taller than orig. factory but still narrow. I think they are 7.50-16 if memory serves me right. Gives a taller highway gear (speedo off by 5 mph) but I'm sure my none power steering steering would be better on the driver end.
