I have my FE 360ish in the shop for a rebuild to a 390. While it and the transmission are out, I want to paint the transmission (4 speed manual, see pic in my gallery). It has some light surface rust.
My plan is to treat it with Rust Bullet or POR15 and then paint it. Do I need to use a special high temperature paint? If I do, which do you recommend. If I don't can I use rustoleum?
Yeah the transmission is like an engine it will heat up, just not nearly as hot as the engine. Plus the heat from the engine itself. So any high temp paint will work.
If your just wanting to put a decent looking coating on the tranny, I'd recomend going to your local hardwear store and picking up some high temp bbq grill paint. I have used it on engiens before and it holds up really well.
