sounds like what happend to me. i have a 04 and with 35,000 miles my EGR took a dive on a trip pulling my 30ft trailer. i was able to make it to the camp ground and find a dealer about 20 miles away. they ran a test and said it was the EGR relaced it and re coded it and i was on my way in 10 minutes!
a couple months before i would have it stutter when taking off but only a couple times them it just went.
I thought about buying a spare for the glove box until i found out they were 335.00 to 350.00.
when they pulled mine out it was totally coked up and was in the shut position.
on the way to the dealer it looked like a scene from a bond movie blowing smoke all over the place.

Hi I don't know if this is the right place? I have a 250 screw 74k 5.4L 2003 4x4. My truck started to miss when I used the 4 wheel on ice in Dec 06, ESOF, cleared up a couple of days later. Did not happen again until Feb this year. The miss is in moderate acceleration, runs smooth when pushed hard. No error codes, but the abs light comes on for a few seconds and speedometer dips. Any help is apprecated.
