Life is Goood!
466, KB hypers, Eagle rods, Heavily ported D3 heads, Headers and Hooker Aeros', Lunati voodo cam.
It is great to be able to pull out and pass cars, climb the grades at speed limit, accelerate from on ramps and embarass a few cars with a 79 Trailer special Super Cab while pulling 8,000 lbs.
Gas is still cheaper than diesel and my truck is paid for...
Now if I can restrain from burning the tires off when my teenage sons are with me....
I would like to do a cam sometime, but will have to pony up the $$ for a MAF conversion first, since my truck seems to be very picky about mods. A cone filter alone seemed to mess up the idle a little!??
Torrque curve on program shows that from 1500 rpm to 3500 rom torque is never under 500. My tranny needs rebuilding so I know I am loosing some there. I am going to have it put on a local chassis dyno. It is the strongest motor I have owned. I have drove a 300 hp to the ground on 40's truck several times after we had it chasssis dyno'd. Mine feels REAL close.
Their is a post on 460Ford from Scotty J about the EFI heads and it is real surprising. They can make some real tourque below .500 lift compared to even the doves and other heads!
When you say 40s, do you mean 40" tires? If so, here is an interesting post from a GM truck forum that may be encouraging for you and your friends truck. If it was dynoed with big tires, it likely has alot more HP than its showing!
foggy had his trucK on the dyno, his truck has 35" mud tires, very aggressive tread.
Can you guess how much HP was lost with these tires?
How's 100hp sound? That's right, power jumped 100hp when we put the stockers back on.
