Has anyone else found out that the SD outside rear views are a great landing/toilet perch for birds? And, of course, that crap drizzles straight down the mirror (or front side) and right on down the door of the truck.
Has anyone figured out any kind of "you land here, you DIE" kind of device? If so, please post it. Seems as if my parking place must be right in the landing/glide slope for every dang bird in the area!
Get some super sticky crud... Wrap your mirrors.. Put the stuff on.. Can't remember the name but it doesnt dry and it'll stick your rear end to it anytime..
Then when the birds land.. BAM stuck... Take a 22 and pop a cap in their hyde.. Eventually the squadron above will realize what landing there does and bug out
I hate birds.. They always tend to crap on my truck after a car wash... Or it rains after I get washed.. Strange.. I must say..

I should probably be offended by the redneck reference, but since I know exactly what you're talking about maybe it is a redneck thing. You're talking about the glue used in the sticky mouse traps. If you do a google search you can find gallon containers of it to make your own traps.
You could also use some odd looking products I've used on commercial buildings "http://www.nixalite.com/nixalitemodels.aspx" or build a similar product yourself. My experience with the birds is that you will be able to keep them off your mirrors, but if they like your truck or location, they will just move over to the bed or on top of the cab.
Here's an idea I got off a buddy of mine. He placed a rubber/plastic snake on the telephone line that crosses over where he parks his van....no bird will come close to the line! I'd get one of the rubber ones and wrap it around the mirror. Bet you a beer the mirror stays clean!

Don't be offended.. I'm a redneck too lol.. Grew up in Northeast Texas on 3,000 acres.. I'm as red as they come
Ofended by the redneck thing? Geez we all drive the biggest baddest trucks made, some of us for no reason other than to have the biggest baddest truck! He He. I heard if you put an owl decoy on the top of your truck that will work. Or you could run 10,000 volts to yer mirrors through the upfitters.... Better use the 30 amp one though, don't want to pop a fuse.
I put this on large oak trees to stop Gipsy Moth, they could not cross it, which is saying something. I put duct tape on the tree first, got to use duct tape, then paint this on the duct tape. Should work for the birds. http://www.tanglefoot.com/
F those Birds!!! My old '99 F150 was nicknamed the "Pigeon killer" cause of all the Pigeons I hit when driveing to work and back. I even took out a black bird that was sicky lokking haha. And the only damage my truck incured was the honeycomb grill got hit and popped out of the mounts. Also I tagged a Pigeon in my 2005 stang but no damage. your best defense is a Cat, those birds dont have to land on your truck to take a poop on it lol.
Well, I covered the Rear View with Plastic Wrap and coated the tops with "Tanglefoot". First day, no hits. When out this AM and passenger side had all kinds of feathers stuck into the Tanglefoot!!! WOW...had some long tail feathers and a bunch of red breast feathers!! So it's a Robin crapping down the side!! Bet that sucker won't be landing on THAT rear view again..at least not in the foreseeable future!!!
