Stalls at stop lights

Stalls at stop lights
My buddy has a 01 F250 superduty 4x4 that stalls at stop signs and lights but starts right back up. It might do it 10 times in a row or not do it for a week. What could be causing this? Also he told me these trucks dont have a fuel filter on them but I believe they do but I am not sure where to find it(I am not to up on the power strokes).
