Question "HORNY" QUESTION ??????

Ok guys, now that I've got your attention: We're talking an '87 f-150 xlt lariat,300 inline 2wd soon to be a 4wd.My question is this; the freakin' horn will only work while key is in off position. As soon as you turn the key on,no horn.I took the center section of steering wheel out to "look" at the hook-up,all seems to be fine there.I am "guessing" something is wrong in the column? Any thoughts on this before I post the sticker on the ride saying "horn broken, watch for finger"?

Yeah, I would check out the multi-function switch in the steering column. A lot of things run through there-blinkers, horn, hazard flasher and ignition lockout.Mine was shorted in the switch and routed the power from the right front and dash turn indicators to the left rear light. Get ahold of a wiring diagramn and a test light and probe the connector under the dash to see whats up. It is the U shaped connector that has about 10 wires going to it from a loom at the base of the steering column casing. It's fairly large, and its unique shape should make it pretty easy to find. The bad news is that if the switch is toast, it's $50 for a new one.
