Ball Joints and such

Okay so I need new ball joints. I've heard Moog's are good anyone recently purchased or seen a good price on uppers and lowers for 2000 7.3l ? Also I want to lower the X and figured when I got the ball joints installed I would install new shocks and springs possibly sway bars. Im building this X for speed and want it to handle.Any other components I should look into or check out for replacement before installing these other components. Ive also heard its a pain in the *** to install ball joints and was wondering what makes it so hard. And lastly if I were to purchase all of these components from one source do you think I'd be able to pull off a nice discount with free shipping or something. Thanks and any recommendations you guys can make on lowering springs and shocks are greatly appreciated.

I just finished a complete ball joint replacement on a 2WD, and it wasn't too bad, but the caliper/rotor/spindle assys are way heavy!! You'll need a balljoint press to get them done. Took about 2 hours for the first side, 45 min for the second...typical learning curve.(beer breaks included) I went with all MOOG from the local parts house.

Now for the real question.. : 2

1) what press did you use,, was it the c/clamp type with adaptors or a stand alone press

2) How many beers / side?

I'm with vettdvr..... how many beers per side?

Clemson Study
A 2007 study by Clemson University found that the average American walks about 900 miles per year.
Another study by the American Beer Institute found that Americans drink an average of 22 gallons of beer a year.
That means, on average, Americans get approximately 41 miles per gallon - not bad!

I used a C style clamp...never used one before, but once I got the hang of it it worked well.
Now for the more important question....I have but one rule. No drinkin' before noon. Which I try to adhere to as much as possible. That said, the first side was done before noon and took forever, the second was done after noon and took much less time. So the only conclusion to draw from that is, the more beers the faster the job! Right?

What this really means is I won't start before Noon that way we will have enough beer to do the job.

Besides it is always Noon Somewhere. Jim
