I just rolled over 32,000 mi on my 06 F250 PSD and I am pricing a 30,000 mi service at a dealership in Crestview, FL. To get all that they say I need done, the price was quoted at $650+. Seems a bit excessive to me. I'm going to dig into my owner's manual to see what is recommended. What do you techs recommend. I have been reading and I see on here most guys getting away with about $200, plus or minus on the tranny flush. I have also read alot about this external filter. The dealership I called said they don't normally do it, but i can change it, added expense of course. How important is it to change the external filter? Can any of you techs give me a definitive answer as to what i should get serviced now, no (brake calipers, air filters, fuel filters and injectors cleaned, etc...)B.S.? Your help is appreciated.
Pretty much this is how I do it.. Only because I am smart but not very smart..
Anything I can do, Oil, fuel, air, brakes, lube (minus from Hubs) I take care of..
Tranny flush I let ford handle due to they can wipe the TC for me.. Anything to do with the 4WD parts, I let them do. .Only because I'm not trained in handling 4WD aspects.. This is my 2nd 4WD vehicle with a big span of time in between.. I can't work the front end of a 2WD any day, nothing more then spindle..
Hope that helps yah... Just remember, if you can do it.. Do it.. If you can't let them do it.. How folks walk out with less cost..
I figure every 5K for oil change, 10-12K on fuel filters, air filter 30-40K depending on driving conditions, brake inspection is good, injectors cleaned---huhh. So depending on what you have done previously. I would check the list on the download before calling them again. Check other dealerships. Also tell them you want a transmission flush. Some will just change the oil in the pan and call it good.
