Injectors
Injectors
Anyone have a clear picture of what an injecto looks like? got into an argument with a friend of my dads and he was saying that my injector was my glowplug, and after about 20 minutes of arguing I decided to give up on the gas lover and try and find a picture. He didnt understand that diesels dont have Spark, and that all the glowplugs do is warm up the cylinders. also I would like to see a 6.9 injector because thats what I have.
dont have a picture handy but its pretty easy to tell the difference... GP will have a single wire running to the top of it, 12 guage or so. the injectors have a metal fuel line running to the top and are connected together w/ rubber type fuel line for the return. shouldn't be to hard to prove your point by losening a fuel line and spraying some diesel around

Why not just pop the hood and point out injector and glow plug/starting system. If the guy isn't smart enough to figure it out then don't even bother. One thing I hate most is someone who doesn't know a thing about it (especially when it comes to motors), yet tries to tell everyone how it works. Sounds like the fella I met at a road show who tried to tell me that his brother in law put $500 into a stock camaro and got it to run 7's in the quarter mile...yeah FAT chance on a cold day in hell...
I did all that, he still insists that there is a "Spark Ignitor"(spark plug) inside of the injectors haha. After he said that I asked him where the injectors got their power from so that his "Spark Ignitor" could make a spark, he shut up after that. he still thinks that the glowplugs make spark though so maybe i'll have him go to howstuffworks.com to see how diesel engines work. Some people think they know everything about everything and really all they know is very little about very little.

If you look at the tight clearances it is critical to ensure you have clean, dry fuel, no solids or water or the injector won't last long.
If you got a good filter (2micron), water separator and use additives, these things last a long time. I got amost 230kkm's on my 93' and it runs better than new. Amazing.
Seb...
