I just upgraded my factory tires from 275-65R18 to 305-65R18 - i love the way it looks but have a few problems that I need help with.
I have some rubbing against the leaf springs at full lock and frankly it really bothers me as I could see the rubbing creating real problems when in an off-road situtation. My question is...will a leveling kit fix the rubbing and if not what will? I talked to a local shop that installs lifts and they indicated that they could not garuantee that the leveling kit would correct the rubbing. They did say that they could change the "stop" to keep it from rubbing.
What is the cure for rubbing...or is there one? I also would like to know how to correct eh spedo changes and what the best tire pressure is? It seems the truck does not turn near as well with the bigger tires and I have to believe there is a cure for this as it seems unlikely that folks just tolerate these issues with bigger tires.
If its rubbing on your leaf springs I dont think any amount of lift is going to change the distance from your tire to the leafs. A different wheel offset will change it tho, so either different wheels or wheel spacers should fix it.
VQ2Fast4U is dead on. If they're rubbing, your going to need to change the offset of your wheels. My 315's on OEM wheels, rub at full lock to the left. A leveling kit is going to add height but the relationship of the tire to the leaf spring is not going to change.
