Murder-Suicide in LAPD's 77th
South Los Angeles: Gabriela Gonzalez, a 25-year-old Latina woman, was found dead in a home in what police are calling a murder-suicide that left an entire family dead. It took place in the 800 block of East 82nd Street in the LAPD's 77th Street Division about 9:15 p.m. Wednesday, March 28. Police said the woman's partner, 29-year-old Fredy Melara, a Latino man, killed her and the couple's small daughters, then killed himself. A witness heard the couple yelling, then Gonzalez saying, "Fredy no, no!" and then gunshots. Los Angeles Times story
South Los Angeles: Gabriela Melara, a 2-year-old Latina girl, was one of those killed.
South Los Angeles: Asbel Melara, a 15-month-old Latina girl, was the other young victim.

Robert Belton Sr., 82
Robert Belton Sr., 82, a black man, was found dead in a home at 1156 W. Adams Blvd. in West Adams with puncture wounds in his neck. Medical examiners later determined that his was not a natural death; it was a homicide, from "sharp force trauma." His time of death was listed as 9:12 a.m. Wednesday, March 21.

A Man Stabbed to Death in a Fight Over a Woman
North Hollywood: Wayne Hughes, 26, a white man, was stabbed in a parking area in the 10900 block of Bluffside Drive in North Hollywood and died at Holy Cross hospital later. Arrested was Anthony Lovato, 26, a white man. Police said the pair argued over a woman, and Lovato stabbed Hughes.
Update: The Los Angeles County District Attorney declined to file charges against Lovato, saying there was insufficient evidence to prove the killing was not self-defense.

Luciano Barajas, 28
Luciano Barajas, 28, listed as unknown ethnicity by the coroner and as Latino by sheriff's deputies, was found in a shallow grave at 22550 E. Fork Road in the Angeles National Forest on Saturday, March 17. His death was subsequently called a homicide. Detectives said he may have been killed up to two weeks ago. He was from South Gate. Anyone with information is asked to call (323) 890-5500.
Luciano Barajas, 28, listed as unknown ethnicity by the coroner and as Latino by sheriff's deputies, was found in a shallow grave at 22550 E. Fork Road in the Angeles National Forest on Saturday, March 17. His death was subsequently called a homicide. Detectives said he may have been killed up to two weeks ago. He was from South Gate. Leon Huddleston, 25
Leon Huddleston, a 25-year-old white man, was beaten with a pool cue at 227 W. Pillsbury St. in Lancaster and died at 7:10 p.m. Feb. 22.
Huddleston, described by police as a local transient, was playing pool at Young's Bar and Grill when two men came in, walked straight up to him, and hit him with a pool cue. Huddleston fell behind the bar. No argument or brawl preceded the attack. Detectives say they don't know the motive. Huddleston "didn't even have a chance to defend himself," said Sgt. Jeff Cochran of the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau.
The suspects fled, and a handful of bar patrons who witnessed the attack also left the scene. Huddleston lived for a week on life support before dying. Los Angeles County supervisors have offered a $10,000 reward for information in this case. Anyone with tips is asked to call detectives at (323) 890-5635.
