i have a 1984 4X4 Ford F-250 7.5L with 60K. I need to go to college and im trying to sell it. first of all i know its not a very good time to sell it in Wisconsin when we just got done with the snow season. but im wondering what you guys think it would be worth ive been trying to get $2500 for it. Its got a lotta new stuff, new fuel tank, lines, sending unit, fuel pump, rebuilt carb, 140 amp alt, two new batteries, front brake pads, trany lines, 10K towing hitch. Its got a fisher plow with new plow lines. i love this truck but need to part it out, what would be a reasonable price to get for it? im thinking if i can't get $2500 for it now ill sell it in the fall just before winter.
It does have the small area's near the wheel wells where rust is attacking the body. With it being a 84 and it needing body work and such....2400 is too steep. I wouldn't give over 1700 if I wanted it. Its your truck, and its not a personal thing toward you but you asked and to expect the full 2400 on a rusted body is laughable....otherwise it looks like a nice truck, but its in a rust/salt area and you used it in a lot of salt and snow. It has meaning to you, but not me.
i'll disagree, being from the up of michigan, i could easily see the truck getting 2500, especially with the plow and the big 8. the rust appears to be minor, and it is something i'd be wiling to fix. if I had the money on hand, i'd buy it just as another truck to have.
Nice truck you should be able to get 2500.00 for that thing all day long, I live in southern Kansas you can look in the paper any day of the week and find trucks like your going for 3500.00. If I had not just dumped 3500.00 in my truck I would buy it. Good luck.
yea, here in wisconsin ive had people look at it and drive it then they say they are going to call me and they never call me. ive been trying to sell it for a couple weeks now, ik its a bad time but i can't help but think im asking too much. despite the pictures there are small amounts of rust that you cannot see from the pics, but i don't understand how that would take away from the value of the truck. its a truck not a pretty car, its been used and its gonna get used, people don't pay a pretty penny for new truck because they look good they only do that because they carry a purpose, working! something some wisconsinites can't understand around here.
ya i stuck it on autotrader back a while ago and had it on there for like two months, i got nothing. i think the problem was when i looked in that category of my year truck i was the only one, which made me think one thing that maybe no one is looking on autotrader for a older plow truck because not many of them are even worthy of looking at. they are all rust buckets and pieces of junk, where as mine is similar to a newer model truck because of the previous owners taking such good care of it. i stuck it on craiglist and thats where ive been getting most of my bites, hopefully this weekend ill repost again and get some more lookers.
Your'e not asking too much for that truck, it's beautiful! I have an 86 that has the same paint scheme only reversed with a 460 and a 4 speed. I paid $3000 for it 4.5 years ago because I needed a truck bad. Do not settle for less than what you want for it!!!
I think the thing that's scaring people away is the fact that it has a 460 and with gas prices being what they are, some folks are just plain scared to buy a truck that only gets around 10 mpg's and everyone wants a gas sipper.
Try this, if someone comes to look at it, if you haven't listed a price already, when the question comes around and the potential buyer asks how much, just say, "well, what do you think is fair?" If he goes over the $2500 mark you want, wait a minute and reluctently agree. If they go under, just look at them and say, "sorry, I can't go under $2500."

I think thats it right there Gas $ I have had my 84(barney) with a 460 for sale for over a yr now only one person came and test drove it but said it was to much truck for his son.I returned $4000.00 cash that I had in my hand from the guy I first purchased the truck from,Because the way I looked at it for 4 grand I could not go out and get a truck with all that I knew was done to Barney for that kind of money, now I have my bronco and just dont need three trucks but I cant even get anybody to look at it and make me a offer now.BTW thats a great looking truck you got and looks to be worth what your asking its probably just the 460 scaring them away.
Hard to replace something like that for $2500. Good lookin' truck, and a 4X4 to boot. It is something to be proud of.
I think you're too cheap also.
I dealt with the same rust issues on Clyde, not a big deal except to maybe a purist that doesn't own a 23 year old
truck like this.
I figure if I had to replace my truck with something that would do the same job for me it would cost me
at least $12-15,000 and I'm sure not going to get anywhere near that for mine.
I don't really know what your financial situation is but if I were you I'd find another way to make it work without selling
something you have, love and really don't want to part with.
