I have heard of 2 locations under the right kick panel pass. side area or under the hood pass side fire wall area. not to hard to spot. I could be wrong to but that all I got.
The ecu was right were the instructions said it was. Jetchip said there is one 10mm bolt on the face of the ecu and mine has 3. It turns out Ford made two different computers for the 02. The Jetchip that i bought doesn't fits the computer that is in explorer and Jetchip doesn't make one for it either. Lucky me.

ldhost1
so don't leave us hanging where was it, we are curious.
I'm hoping ldhost1 gives us the answer eddie because I only have 1 key right now. At the moment I just don't have the funds to purchase another one and have it programed by Ford because of cost.
If I can find this box and the code is on it, I will probably just leave the key in the console after driving so it doesn't get lost.
I went on jet chip's website and got the install instructions the ecu location are as follows per the inst.
1995-2002 under drivers side kick panel behind the e-brake
2003 and up left side of fire wall to gain access to front plug so I would assume to body of the ecu would be inside the pass. side area behind the glove box.
Eddie: ECU is behind the glove box. Open box, release tab, drop down box, mounted with 1 10 mm bolt on the heater unit. Don't have my book with me, for the correct name of each item.
The ecu was on the passenger fire wall. On my explorer there are 3 10mm bolts. Most explorers there is only one bolt. Ford made two different ecu's, thats what the Jetchip tech said. Currently they don't make a jetchip for the ecu withe 3 bolts. They do have a handheld programmer coming out soon.
