What's it worth?

Hey guys, I want to ask you all what you think my 1998 Expedition is worth. It's a red Eddie Bauer with 4wd and the Mach Audio system. The stock subwoofer is blown so I installed a Kicker L5. It currently has a 3" body lift on it and some meaty Goodyear tires (285s).

I want to sell it without the Goodyears and the subwoofer.

The interior is in mediocre shape for 142K miles. A slight tear on the driver's seat and the typical cracked vinyl armrest. The whole interior is rather dirty with the trunk area showing lots of wear and scratches. Inside, there is fake wood; one tone on the center stack and another on the side air vents.

Today I saw a '98 F-150 extended can with a 3" body lift, dual exhaust, mud tires with no tread and after market wheels, cheap looking tint, and rusty Westin running boards (different model on each side) going for $8500. It had 133K miles on the ticker and a, what looked like, cigarette smoked in interior (cigarette burns on the flip console). The truck did not have fog lights on the front and the tailgate was rusty and in extremely poor shape with multiple dents. It was a pretty basic XLT model.

I figure if this truck that's not in very good shape could possibly sell for $8500, then mine should go for a bit more.

Please tell me what you all think? Enclosed are a few pictures:

Thanks guys,

Value is a very difficult animal to estimate due to so many variables. Around here, your value seems very optimistic due to the vast # of Expys on the ground...they might be scarce where you are though. Look around the net and try to find similar vehicles.

the asking price for that f150 you've seen may be far and away from the eventual selling price. so i'm not sure how much merit you should put into that. expy's around here sell for pretty cheap.

you should check autotrader.com/cars.com to see what the asking prices are for them in your are.

i bought my first '97 4x4 expy with 80k in nearly perfect condition for $8200 3 years ago.

Wow, you got a great deal on that thing amm. I'm over in the KC/MO area and the prices are all over the place. 11K for a '97 XLT with 109K miles. $8500 for 97 EB with 87K miles. $13000 for a '99 with 64K miles. The two '98s are both XLTs, 155k miles for 6950, and 91K miles for 8695.

I forgot to mention the truck is in perfect shape mechanically. Drips/burns no oil over an oil change. Transmission is solid except for the shudder at around 40 mph only when trying to stay in O/D and accelerating.
