[updated:LAST EDITED ON 06-Mar-02 AT 02:05 AM (EST)]Hi all, got another 'quick' question.
After seeing how much it would cost to change my truck over to a Mass Air system and its age, i have thought about just replacing the engine/trany.
It is currently at 141,580 and going strong, but i know that won't last forever
So I figure if i am going to put a new or remanufactured engine in her, it is the perfect time to upgrade to a bigger engine if it is worth the hassle.
I was looking at posssibly a `97 460EFI engine/transmission, or possibly a diesel (i can dream can't i? )or any other engines, along with the good old 351W.
So I was wondering on what everyones thoughts were, if you have done it, can it could work in my truck, and is it worth it??
I am all for bigger engines, but if you have emissions in your area you can forget about it. Since nothing bigger than a 351W came in the 1994 Bronco it is illegal (federal law) to install anything other than what was offered for that year/body style. But if you don't have emissions in your area, I say it would be cool. The 460 has been done, I have heard about diesels but this costs a ton of money due to the fact that you have to replace engine/tranny/driveshafts/axles/motor mounts/ and the list goes on and on. But if you have the money I say go for it.
Argh!
I didn't realize it was a federal law that limited engine swapping
i was kind of leaning towards the 460 for its relative ease of install, but i also don't want my truck to be illegal either. Any ideas?
Thanks again!,
John
