side marker lights
side marker lights
Hello All,
Installed new side marker lights.
1st time I turned them on they looked great.
The next day I turned them on to show my cousin and the fuse blew.
Now I can't find the problem, 1 side works, the other blows a fuse.
I can get 1 of the 5 on the side that blows to work, if I hook up any more they blow the fuse, Any suggestions.

What size is the fuse that is blowing. What are the wattage of the lights? Are there any other added lights on the truck?
We need to determine if you have a wiring problem, or the circuit is just overloaded.
If you think it's overloaded, you can add a relay to take the load off the circuit.

Thanks for the reply, I was really scratching my head for a while.
However I was able to determine that the lights I used come with a chrome frame, a black foam insulation for between the light and chrome backing.
When installed the lights the wires were pinching between the foam back and the chrome. I put electrical tape between the wire and the chrome frame and all was OK.
The manufacturer soldered the wire so it lined up with the chrome frame instead of the hole you feed the wires through.
Again, thanks for the reply.
