I have an 88 f250 that has front end wobbling and cant seem to track it down. I have changed the tie rod (which some one also called the center drag link?) bought new tires and rims, had the wheel bearings checked and repacked, the front rotors turned, front brakes done with new calipers, had the alignment done twice, all 3 u-joints on the drive line changed and still cant figure out why i have such a rough ride. I get wobbling at about every 1o mph starting at 5 and have the worst at 65 mph. Les Schwab has done all of the work and always seem to a good job but could they be missing something. They said the tie rod ends are in good shape as well. What could left to fix? Any suggestions. Thanks.
Where did you last fill your tires up with air? Could you have found a compressor that had a bunch of water in it? Crazy as it sounds, if you were at a filling station that did not perform routine maintenance on the compressor, you could have pumped enough water into the tire to cause it to be way out of balance. Since the water moves when you hit a bump, or change speeds, it may explain why the tire gets whacky at different speeds.
Maybe?????
Might check your sterring gear box for play. Might be loose enough to set your front tires to wobble. Mine was doing that and I titened up the gear box and I think I got it. Probably wouldnt hurt for me to get a sterring stablizer shock too.
what size rims and tires did you put on? Do you notice it more when you hit a bump? If you put on taller rims and tires like I did, you need to add a steering dampner.
