8.8 LS problems what else is new?

So, my 92 F150 4x4 came stock with 3.55 gears open diff... but the past owner had to put a new rear axle under there. I inspected the tag it says its an open diff 3.55. I know its still 3.55. I have LS cause both tires will spin... somtimes. I was playin around in the areana today. doing some "burn outs" lol yea right. but only the passanger side tire would spin like hell, then maybe for a half seconde or full 2 secondes so would the drivers side. is this common or is it worn out?

Now when when i had stock tires the drivers side would only spin like hell.. i went and put 31s on there, now the passanger side spins like hell... whats going on?

It is not uncommon for an open diff to spin both rear tires. If the tires are getting equal traction, or lack of traction, you too can be a two liner. Once one tire gets more traction, then the power is applied to the one that has the least resistance. It does not have to be the right, or left, it is only spinning the tire with the least traction.
Chances are, it is just as the tag says, open.....

Lift the rear axle completely, and make sure the vehicle is secure, and will not roll. Wheel choks up front are a must. Then after it is safe, and in the air, take the truck out of gear, and remove the emergency brake. Turn one tire, and notice which direction the other one turns. Same direction means that a clutch pack lives under the cover, if it spins the opposite way, then you have a one wheel wonder. Easy as that.

well just read the diff tag!
"L" in the label means limited slip.

Of course it's completely possible to modify the rear end with new components and fail to use the correct diff tag. But if he put in a whole new rear end, it would come with its own diff tag so it should be correct.

He said that he read the tag already and that it says 3.55 and that it is open.
