Manual 4x4 to push button

Hey guys, first time posting in this forum. My brother just recently purchased a 1988 Bronco to replace his recently deceased 1989 Bronco. The 88 has the manual shift lever for the 4 wheel drive and he kinda liked the automatic system. My question is how hard is it to make the conversion? We still have the 1989, (it doenst run) so theoretically we should have all the parts. Has anyone done this? Thanks in advance.

Manual 4x4 to push button

Wow, I have never heard of anyone wanting to do this! The pushbutton systems are problematic at best and you couldn't pay me to take one. That said, there's no reason you can't do it. You'll have to swap t-cases and cover the hole in the floor for the shift lever. If you do this save the manual 'case and all of the shift linkage and you can no doubt unload it to someone who wants to ditch their pushbutton. You'll have to move over all the associated wiring and there's usually a control module behind the pass kick panel. If you just enjoy working on trucks I can respect that, but the advantages seem to fall short of the amount of work required - I mean is it really that much harder to pull a lever than push a button? Anyway, it's your choice and good luck w/whatever you and/or your brother choose!

Thanks for the info. I do agree with you. I personally like the manual t-case. I have already told him that if it were possible I would do it under protest. Looks like I may tell him that he can learn to like it. Again thank for the help.
