I put together a5.0 with a mass air conv kit from summit racing 5yrs ago in my 90 f150 5.0 5spd and it was great, I put the same one in a 89 bronco 5.0 5spd and again it was great.
I went through the motor installed the same kit,the motor runs like a champ but my tranny is having some probs.
I put the 5.0 motor in a 90 bronco with an automatic it acks like it only has 2nd&3rd when in drive you have to stand on it to get it to move,if you drop it to 1rst it moves, shift to 2nd no change, shift to 3rd or d it shifts up,it wont down shift or go in to over drive it acts like it has no 1st and is starting out in 2nd.
Im thinking of putting in my 5spd,I know that works!others have this conv kit done and with an automatic.what did I do wrong?
could it be the computer?I have no codes, ran a code test.
could really use your help.
What automatic do you have in your bronco? As an OD it's either an AOD or an E4OD. The E4OD is electronically controlled by the computer. Do I understand correctly that you are using the mass air kit with this new installaton? The computer that came with your summit/ford racing mass air conversion kit doesn't have the E4OD transmission function and driving that way could cause serious trans damage. You will need to swap in a computer from a 94-95 mass air 302. The AOD is not computer controlled so it will work with your mass air set-up. The AOD has a TV cable from the carb to the trans that has to be adjusted properly. If it isn't you can have serious problems including ruining the trans.
I checked it out it does have the e4od.Im pretty shure the computer is for a stick because when I ordered it it was for a 90 5.0 f150 5spd
I picked up a colum from a stick truck and floor pan I already had the clutch/brake pedal bracket for under the dash a 5 spd from a 90 f150 and the wire loom when Im done my bronco should look like it came factory, some of them did come with the 5spd but I think it was special order I've only seen 1 factory before.
My last bronco was a 89 and I loved it!
when you say 94/95 302 mass air,is that mustang or truck?
