Best 7.3?

I am in the market for a 7.3 X. I have looked at a few and different sellers of 00 through 03 have touted their 7.3 to be the better year model. I know there is an increase in 15 hp in 2001 but is there really a better motor between the 3 years. I plan to convert this over to vegetable oil using a golden fuel systems kit after I purchase. Any concerns I should have? Thanks.

Honestly no there probably isn't a best 7.3 in those years unless your looking for turning the hp levels way up, then the early ones would be better due to having forged rods instead of PMR rods. I would look for the best deal you can find on the lowest mileage unit and call it good unless your looking for over 400 rwhp

I'm not sure about using vegetable oil but I do run my '00 7.3 on homebrew biodiesel and it does quite well. In the winter, however, I burn good ole' petrodiesel.

my friends run that thingee, worked fine for first 15k or so after that they had slappy fuel economy and they ended up cleaning fuel tank from depositis and got back to good allee petrodiesel. there is no cheating with that, something will always give up...
