A whole new Processor for OBD!?!?!

I own a 96 Bronco 351 and I've been to hell and back trying to find out why I cant seem to get rid of O2 heater circuit malfunction codes for all the sensors. $300 later after replacing all the o2 sensors and one wire harness I had a full computer diagnostic done. The mechanic told me that he could not finish the test because of a computer malfunction and that it was the cause of all my problems. So I am on Fords mailing list of people who have malfunctioning computer processors waiting for a new one. My question to my fellow Bronco owners is that is this a common problem or do I own one of the few Ford Broncos this happens to?

I also have a '96 Bronco (Eddie Bauer), 5.8L, Automatic transmission and 3:55 rear axle ratio.

I've not had the problem you describe but I did have to replace the EGR valve. My truck was a very early model (372nd built) in fact, the front motors for the electric windows are actually for a Lincoln car! They must have had some left over - it even has the stock number that calls for that motor.

Good luck

I also have a 96 351 XLT and I have replaced both O2 sensors in the front but not the third one. I haven't had any computer problems at all. Actually, those are the only things that have gone bad on the truck (74,000 miles).
Best Bronco I've ever owned.

I have a '96 XLT with the 5.8, and I haven't had any computer problems yet. No O2 sensor problems, either, but I am only at 64K miles.
