Odd Tailgate Problem
i was out tonight with a bunch of friends and i had the tailgate down getting stuff out. i left it down and walked away to over were my friends were.we heard a loud bang. at first we thought someone shot a rock at one of the trucks. later when we went to leave i went to put my tail gate up and it felt like it weighd 200lbs.i mean it wasnt as easy to close as it once was.
is there a spring inside that assist with opening and closing the tailgate ?

Torsion bar. Look on the passenger side. When down you probably can move it in the little bracket the end is in. When you replace it be sure to get it in the piece of metal that holds it in the driver side down low. You do not want it to touch the glass or many $$$ gone.. I u-bolted mine.

If it snapped while the gate was down and the rear glass survived, consider yourself exceedingly fortunate. In most cases the tab in the gate lets go of the end of the bar and releases it right into the glass effectively shattering it.

should i remove the broken parts till i get new ones ?
