I was wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of any post or information about a solid axle swap.
I know of the kit sold by bronco grave yard. My real question has to do with having a complete 78 as a parts truck. Would the front axle bolt directly onto an 84 fullsize using parts from both trucks? Would I still have to buy the kit?
Thanks I read that article. I'm interested in specifically the 80-86 Broncos and using a solid front axle from a 78-79 Bronco. Is it a bolt on conversion? Problems?
I don't see any reason why an '80-86 would be any different than an '87-91 as the frames are essentially the same TTBOMK. It's '92+ that has the crumple zones up front but even this will not bother a swap if using coils. So your question is applicable to all '80+ Broncos. It's basically a bolt-on swap. You'll have to work out something for the track bar mount (aka panhard rod) and you may have to trim and reinforce the xmember as all TTB xmembers are considerably different than '78/9. Go for it!
