light bulb trick

So I was changing a light bulb and the glass came out of the base.
Tried snap ring pliers, but the base was stuck so I had to put so much pressure on the pliers that it was distorting the thin metal. The thing that worked for me was a synthetic wine cork. Just shoved it in and the base unscrewed easily. It was a standard base bulb.

(It only took one of me to change the bulb unless you count my wife telling me where to look for the cork.)

How many Chevy owners does it take to unscrew a light bulb?

Correct answer to Keepin It Real's question: Two...one to hold the light bulb and the other to spin the ladder around.

Isn't it usually three, one to hold the bulb and two to spin the ladder. It's pretty hard for one guy to spin a ladder with someone on it

Yeah, it used to be three Chevy guys, but one of 'em bought a Ford and now he's "seen the light" and no longer participates in silliness.

I just use a needle nose, squish four sides in, and unscrew it by holding two of the squished in sides.

If it's a standard base bulb, the synthetic wine cork fits perfectly and you don't even have to turn off the switch. (If the cork is dry!!)
