I live on the tx/ok border and all over the news is that they are going to start building them in ardmore oklahoma by next year. they have actually startes the building..
I wouldn't want to get hit in one, yes I would say quality would be improved, now what about the rust?
I believe Rover let them fade away last year for the second time.
Ford just bought the rover name I believe it was acouple of months ago for whatever reason. The MG wouldn't be half as fun if it wasn't breaking down, thats why MG owners know thier cars so well as they double as MG mechanics. I just wonder what they look like.
Rover car division owned by BMW was dropped from production, they sold the Landrover divison to Ford 3 or 4 years ago IIRC correctly. With LR the old aluminum Olds 215 V8 was replaced with a Jaguar motor a couple of years ago. That motor ended up as a 4.6 liter in many different vehicles almost as common as the 350 Chevy used in the U.S.
...is the Triumph still built in some form? I had a short love affair with one in the late sixties....British racing green, fast-back. Hey, what did I know about cars then? It just looked cool!
I know they own land rover but it was on blue oval news a couple of months ago that ford bought the rover name, not land rover, but just rover and I believe it was from BMW. I really didn't read much of the article, it really didn't interest me much at the time. Maybe if blue oval news has a search function, it can be resurected or something. Number Dummy may know, he keeps up with the goings on at ford.
No MG will ever be the real thing unless it has the wonderful Lucas Electricals. MG originally stood for Morris Garage, and with Lucas Electrical equipment, you'll be in a garage more often than not!
Wendell, yes BMW owned Rover, why Ford wants the name is anyones guess. BMW poured millions into Rover, and lost their shirt in the process. The Rover name carries as much of a cachet as the Humber does. Never heard of Humber? See what I mean? The only famous person that I know of that loved his Humbers was Viscount Bernard Law Montgomery, better known as Monty. Montgomery was a nemesis to Eisenhower, Bradley, Patton and every other American soldier in WWII.
Wendell, did you know that the first Land Rover test mule was built off a Jeep built by Ford during WWII??

I have no Idea why they wanted either, I just remembered reading where they had purchased it from BMW. I think we might have discussed it on here as well at the time. I wonder why they did want it, there's no car or anything, just a name,
hummm "srange".
Triumph cars gone, Triumph bikes look like Honda 450's of the early 70's.
AH 3000 clubs get together once in a while, always a pleasure to look at.
Sad many years ago most had a chebbie stuffed in 'em.
Whant to see major "YUCK" type in www.nortonamerica.com on their modern (?) bike.

I remember Humber. My cousin had one traded in at his used car lot and it sat there until it rotted down. Couldn't get parts. It was a 4 door and looked a lot like some of the mid sized to large cars (for England)you see in old English movies.
Lucas was the Prince of Darkness (at least it seemed like it). Not only did the English cars have Lucas electrics, most of them had the battery in the trunk or under tha back seat so you would be assured of substantial voltage drop from the battery to the starter.
I found out English cars weren't good daily drivers when I was still a teenager. I would wait for weeks and sometimes months to get parts for my Sunbeams, Metropolitans, etc. I thought they were bad cars until I bought a Renault and then a Fiat. They weren't so bad.
What, you had a Renault LeCar?
I remember back in 72 a friend was showing us how to hand crank his new Renault IIRC a R10 (?). Remember the Dulphine (sp)?
I had a 59 Hillman, rolled it at app 12 mph with 5 people stuffed in it in HS.
British electrics still the same as I have problems with the 95 Disco, check engine, ABS lights always on, electric door locks failed, wiper sticks mid windshield, speakers work depending what day of the week, sun roofs let the English country side rain in.
"A Royal HMS POS PITA VEHICLE" they say "but it's a Landrover".
