Water Pump pullys (Decode numbers)
Water Pump pullys (Decode numbers)
HI guys, I need some help figuring out which pully would be the right one on my truck. One pully is a single V with #ECG 8509 F3, the other has 2 Vs with # D3TE 8509 CA I plan to put power steering on in the future but i dont want the wrong pully on, And if its not to much to ask IF that is the pully for p/s, Then what damper part # for 2 V pully will I need. It is a 1966 352 V8
Thanks a lot Bill W

Bill, If you are talking about crankshaft pulleys the second one is bolted to the first. Bill would know better, but the D3T would make it introduced in D3 or 73 and T as a truck part, not sure about ECG.
We'll will see just how far I was off when he gets back.

1965/66 F100/250's used the same pump and pulley the 1965/71 full sixed FE powered Ford's used, but while the pump is basically the same, there are myriad pulleys offered..with/without thermactor, with/without air, with/without H/D alternator...whew! Pulley diameters ranged from 4 7/8" to 5 1/4."
Only one outer single sheeve crankshaft pulley (C1AZ-6A312-D 6 19/32" O.D.) is listed for 1965/66 w/P/S. It was also used on 1961/64 Galaxies. Note: The crankshaft damper bolt is the same whether you add extra pulleys or not.
Only one double sheeve waterpump pulley is listed for 65/66's with power steering (C6AZ-8509-B 6 53/64" O.D.). Same-o same-o as 1964/66 TurkeyBirds and 1965/71 big Fords and Mercs.

Finding double sheeve pulley for the 66 damper is probably going to be as hard to find as hen's teeth. Think you will find the holes for mounting the pulley to damper are slightly wider on the later models and may have to go to later model damper and pulley setup. Posted simular question in the engine forum and advised by members going to later model damper and pulley would not be a problem. Perhaps just my imagination, but does not feel same since going to later model damper and pulley so keeping an eye out for that 65 pulley.

The 352 damper (C3AZ-6312-E) was used on trucks 1965/67, and cars from 1963/67. Most of the FE cars had power steering and many in the desert southwest had factory air. Finding a damper with double sheeves isn't that hard out here, because there's no rust, so cars lived longer. I know of one yard that has several hundred 60's Fords, a specialty of the owner. There's another local yard that has 1000's of single/double/triple pulleys NOS, because they bought up 1000's of Ford C2AZ/C3AZ/C4AZ-19700-A/B NOS Select-Aire Installation Kits when Ford closed the Long Beach Parts Warehouse (it moved to another location), and parted the kits out.
