Ok friends 95 302 was making a knocking sound yesterday, and after a while it started to sound like a cylinder was out. We pulled a spark plug and they were really nasty looking so we decided to change them all out and put a new distributor cap and rotor on. After the new plugs, wires, rotor, and cap the truck wouldnt start unless throttle is to the floor and wont idle. It seems to run when at full throttle but dies right when you let off the gas. All the gaps are right on the plugs and all the wires are in the right spot on the distributor. Could it be the injectors?
I know this kind of symptoms - but before you will change the injektors check the following things:
1. is the Idle Air bypass Valve working? (beside the trottle) Connector OK?
2. check the fuel Pressure
3. shake the Harness an the PCM-Connector!
At mine 95 F150 are some brocken Contacts inside the connector the reason. So sometime the Idle Air bypass has no signal and the PCM no trottle input and the PCM opened the Injectors wide and the Engine starts only with WOT and stutter and it smells on gas.
Is there any error code?
turns out our 1 and 3 sparkplug wires were switched. Were using a chilton diagram, and was later told that there is one on the truck(dirt was covering it so didnt notice) they were two different diagrams. Got it running good now.
