Just Because It's New...
Ok 175k miles burns oil, thought it had finally given up. I figured I would try some things first. Replaced plugs, looked good. Replaced wires, cap, rotor. Still no change. Replaced fuel filter and regulator. No change. Good fuel pressure so it is not the pump. Pulled codes. No error codes only the normal operating codes. Pulled and cleaned throttle body, was sticking anyway. No change. Do not have cats so they are not plugged. Now I'm starting to think that the motor has gone bad. One more thing, compression check. Started on the drivers side, all good and equal. Checked the passenger side and it showed one is a little low, most likely guides. But............
When I pulled off the brand new Accell spark plug wire from, of course the last plug, the boot came off with the wire but the metal clip was still on the plug!!!
A quick fix with pliers and electrical tape and what do you know. This thing runs great. No hesitation, no vibration, nothing.
Just because something is new does not mean that it can not be defective. The wire was broke before the metal clip. This was a defect from the factory as these were complete wires not make your own.
Double check even when new. That would have saved me a few bucks if I had.
