newcomer a while coming
I built this truck from the gound up. I mean when I very first started I was a two wheel drive with a blown 7.3. So I did a frame swap and fixed up a old 6.9 to put in it. But now the dam truck has grown on me. So now I'm wanting to hot rod the old girl up and, there's very little in the aftermaket to do so. So like I said I was looking at putting in a cummings but, I thought that I wouldn't be true the the truck. I was wandering what could a person to to the internals of the motor to make her run better?
I was also looking at the ats turbos but they don't act ast if they could build enough boost for my taste. I was thinking that these motors had too much compression for say 15lb of boost or so? Oh and one more thing I hate my tranny (c6) the tourque converter slips badly. I was wanding if I were to swap to a zf5 or a zf6 out of a newer powerstroke how would I hook up my speedometer? Seeing how the newer stuff is electronic and all and mine is the old cable setup. Can a person swap in the older transfer? I'm not clear myself but, I think the splines are different.
The ZF5 swap is pretty straight forward, lots have done it, and it is documented on a couple of sites. The ZF6 is much more involved, but has been done.
Sealed Power Hypereutectic pistons, milled them down .040 off the crown.
Balanced the rotating assembly to over 4000 RPM.
ATS upgrade turbo, wastegate adjusted tight so it will never open.
ARP head studs.
