Question about wheels????

I know the basic wheels I have on my 85 Bronco are 15x7 and I have 235 75/R15 tires. But when someone says "5 by 5 1/2" what does that 5 1/2 mean??? Is that the attachment bolt length? I know that 5 is the # of lug nuts. I know its a dumb question so dont get down on me too much. :-X11 What other vehicle makes have rims that fit fords? I need to get rid of the white wagon wheels!!!!!

Question about wheels????

here is info:
http://www.4x4cyberstore.com/website/aboutires.html

as for other makes, look here, but this info needs confirmation by other Bronco owners here!!!
http://www.blueglue.com/users/bentlema/autos/vw/tech/drivetrain/wheels.html

and you need backspacing info on any rims you find in junkyards esp when going to larger sizes (tires/rim combos). Do a search here for backspacing, I saw a few diff posts on it last year; some say 4", others said they went w/none on larger sizes.

Question about wheels????

The 5 1/2 is the diameter of the bolt circle. You should come close to 5 1/2 inches if you measure from the CENTER of one hole, skip the next hole, and measure to the outside of the next hole. From researching the fitment guide at ntwonline.com it appears that 94-01 dodge rams and cj5 and cj7 jeeps both use 5 x 5 1/2 bolt patterns as due most f150 fords and broncos up to 1996. If you dont want to spend a lot of money you may consider a set of inexpensive aftermarket steel wheels as opposed to dealing with the hassles of buying junkyard rims(i.e. bent, rusted, wrong size). Hope this is helpful.

Question about wheels????

If you are looking for OEM wheels, I would find a set of aluminum wheels. Here is a company that sells new takeoffs. They are wheels that are replaced on a new truck when a dealer installs a custom package or when a customer wants different wheels on their new vehicle. They also have a large selection of used wheels, but you will probably have to call or e-mail them.

Question about wheels????

Do you want my stock aluminum rims (off of my '92)? They're in great shape, but aren't big enough for the new tires I'm planning on getting after my lift this Spring.
If ya want 'em, tell me what they're worth to ya
