My 01 SD which I recently bought, has the large telescoping towing mirrors....my passenger one doesn't seem to be very convexed and as a result, it seems hard to see vehicles that are along side and slightly to the right of the truck.....was this mirror-glass replaced do you think? Or are these mirrors like this OEM? (I am aware of the small crescent-convex mirror on the bottom, that's not the one I am referring to, the larger one) that would normanlly be stamped that objects are closer then they appear....Thanks!
i dont even look in the large part of the mirror for the vehicles next to me i look at the blind spot mirror (the little on below) and if i recall the top one is completley flat...i tihnk
I'm glad the mirror is flat. It makes it much easier to judge distances when backing into tight places. You might be able to adjust your lower convex mirror to show cars next to you a little better (can't remember what year those became adjustable. Otherwise look into a set of C-betr mirrors like boxcar or just look over your shoulder like I do.
I'm disappointed in those concave mirrors that come on the telescoping/towing mirrors on my '06 SD - they don't quite do the job. Real concave mirrors (that I mounted on my '77 and '90 F250s) let me see all the traffic next to me AND the parking lot lines. The '06's let me see one or the other depending on how they are adjusted.
Also, Ford went through the trouble to heat the flat mirror (finally!) but I don't use it - I'd like a bigger concave mirror WITH heat!
Another vote for the C-Betrs... If I could only do one mod to my truck, they'd be it (well... maybe after the chip ). They'll become your main go-to mirror when changing lanes... and no more looking over your shoulder or any nonsense like that.

Wow, those are cool! I thought that when I got my F250 with the tow mirrors, I'd never want for more. But I found that I liked the mirrors on my '05 Expy better! (at least for changing lanes, seeing in blind spots, etc).
Just ordered a set of C-Betrs !
Thanks!
