I tried for 5 years to find replacement glides for my Slider without success.
We have a Truck Topper business in my little town and even they couldn't do anything for me.
I could get you the OEM Ford part number if you feel that would help you.
Last year in May at a swap meet I snagged an electric slider with smoked windows for $40.00 cdn.
MY suggestion, go to a few swap meets to hopefully get a deal on one.
I had the same problem, I ponied up 85 bones and got a new one. If your low on cash keep in mind that any rear window from 73-96 Ford will fit, check some salvage yards, might find a good deal.
Replacing the rear window is pretty easy. Try to snag a new gasket for the install. Wrap the gasket onto the new window. Take a 1/8" cord (nylon or clothes line) and wedge it into the channel that seals on the body - wrap it twice. Start wrapping the cord on the bottom center of the window and end on the same place on the second wrap. Spray the gasket and cord with window cleaner and place the window and gasket in the opening. Push against the botom of the window and gasket like you are trying to press the gasket into the truck (here is where it is handy to have another set of hands. With one person in the bed and one in the cab, the person in the cab can grab either end of the cord you wrapped and slowly start pulling it into the cab working towards the corners. Person in the bed presses firmly on the gasket as you move along pulling on the cord and the gasket lip should be started to pull over the pinch weld. Keep pulling and working your way around the window and spray as the gasket begins to dry out. The first wrap should get the gasket installed, the second wrap will be sure to pull the gasket into place. Pretty easy. Just be sure to use lots of spray cleaner to prevent tearing the gasket. This can ne a one person job if you have done a few of them.. If not, bribe a buddy with a 6-pack to make the job easier.
thanks for all the reply's but i live in the netherlands.
in the netherlands is nothing on salvageyards for this truck's.
we have been in the usa last summer but its verry expensive to do it all year.
Have you looked into the gaskets used on the sliding window on minivans, such as an the slider on a 90 ish Ford Aerostar. It seems the gasket channel is like the one used on sliding window.
