I have an 8.8 rearend. The tag reads: s 81 op, 355 88 6e02, can someone tell me the year and spline count. Or maybe a website that can.
Thanks, Wallyford.
I just got done watching the BADSHOE DVD and the guy in the video said that all the tag says is ratio, ring gear size and everything else on it has to do with where the rear end was made. Nothing regarding spline count.

S810-P 3.55 Ford non locking / 31 spline (mid to late 1980's) Section 40; Parts List #236 (E7TZ-4234-A Axle Shaft-Right / E7TZ-4234-B Axle Shaft-Left)
Tag says more...IF one has the 1980/89 Ford Light Truck Parts Catalog to decode it. To find the spline count, first the axle code must be known. That leads to the parts list (236). Then the axle shafts can be found--then one has to go to the axle shaft parts lists, and find the part number, and then the dimensions are given. Ford could have made it a heck of a lot easier..if they had just listed the spline count under the axle tag code!
