Had trouble getting it off yesterday after all the bolts were off, or so I thought. Turned out two of the bolts that broke off when trying to get the outter fenders off were still holding them to the cab. When I realized it and knocked them out, the front clip came right off.
After getting the front clip off and taken apart, the inner fenders are in great shape, the air deflectors are excellent, the hood front locking panel is clean and rust free, and the frame looks great. However, the radiator grill panel is not good on the passenger end with rust holes. Might be able to patch it but won't be sure of the extent of the rust until it gets blasted this week.
The worst news was the outer fenders. Neither has rust other than some surface stuff but both have dents. And pretty significant damage. Not sure if they are going to be worth repairing, guess we'll see down the road.
Next weekend? The running boards and rear fenders, then start on removing the bed. Can't wait!
Sounds like you are making some progress.I hope you remember where all those bolts, and misc.,pieces go!!haha--I have a bro-in-law that tore his vehicle down, and 12 yrs later still hasn't figured it out.I would help him-but --he doesn't like my truck-so NO!!!--Looks like you know your stuff.BILL
Congrats, Jeff. Next weekend should be fun - the running boards and rear fenders go pretty quickly, and the bed isn't held on by too many bolts. I'm one of the idiots who spent half a day under the truck removing all the bolts that held the wood in, not realizing (until it was too late) that I could have removed the bed first, and worked those other bolts standing up like a human being.
One thing I did that ended up being helpful was that I took all the bolts from each body part and put them in a labeled bag. It made it easier when I was putting the truck back together to know exactly what size and how many bolts for each one.
Good stuff great to hear its good your enthusiastic!.. sounds like you are making some good progress cruising season is a coming good luck and keep going
