Does anyone know of a set of replacement leaves that ride nice. I had a set of add-a-leaves with the stocks and then had a set of leaves made from a place in Southern California and the ride is very harsh on the freeway. Going thru dips the back end just wants to buck up. I have new rancho 9000 shocks and have tried all the settings on them. Any suggestions of what is working for you would be nice. I need them 6-7 inches over stock.
I think you hit the nail on the head. You might consider installing new springs. Over time, the originals will become worn and lose their "springiness" (sounds technical, doesn't it?). While yours may not visibly sag, they still won't provide the smooth ride of new ones. Add-a-leafs will increase the load bearing capability, and provide some increase in ride height, but they'll stiffen the ride even more. I haven't done it yet, so I can't give you a first-hand report, but I'm planning to replace mine with a new set as well as installing the flexible-type shackles that I started seeing on the market a year or so ago. I just referenced this in a post in the '87 - '96 Trucks section...... I believe NAPA carries them and they're reported to make a considerable difference in ride quality. Hope this helps!
What is the site. Where can I find out more about these flexible shackles. This sounds like a great idea. I would love to here from someone who has tried that set-up.
There's a fairly fresh post over in the '87 - '96 Truck & Van section titled "Smoother Ride". Here's a shortcut : https://www.ford-trucks.com/dcforum/DCForumID39/3960.html . Do a search for Velvet Ride Shackles, and also check with your local NAPA. Good luck!
