I am currently in the process of buying another bronco. I have never lifted one on my own and do not know where to begin. For someone with my lack of knowledge would it be hard to lift it. (3" Body, 4" Suspension). Does anyone have any cost estimates?
I am also interested in swapping the 351 for a larger engine but don't know what would fit or how hard it would be to reconfigure the compartment for a chevy 454.
Any comments are appreciated.
Is it common for broncos to go up in flames while driving down the freeway at 60mph???
A Cheby 454 in a Bronco? Now that's just wrong. You can get a 460EFI from an F-250 or F-350 donor at a junkyard that will basically bolt in. I belive there are mods, but they are minor ones.
Yeah, dude whats up with a chevy engine in a ford? As for the suspension lift, if you have never done any suspension work it may be difficult. I installed my 4" superlift with the radius arms by myself, or I should say at home. I'm not a mechanic, but I do consider myself a decent wrecher. The most difficult part of the lift is probably getting the longer radius arms in position. Look around I hear of some pretty good deals on purchase and installs. About the engine, I think that depending on your trans. the 460 just requires moving the motor mounts and a few other mods. There are several posts about how to and what to watch out for. Well good luck, if you have any other questions post them and maybe I can help. As for prices on lifts, search the net and see which lift fits your price range and will be practical for you. Both your engine and suspension can also be researched in those forums.
