arcing

a mechanic friend of mine mentioned he thought he heard arcing in my engine bay... didn't have time to really sit down and talk to him about it. what causes arcing? bad wires/plugs? dist cap/rotor need replacing? how do i fix it?

usually bad wires will cause arcing, look in the engine bay at night if the wires are arcing you should be able to see it
