I have recently noticed that my engine is looping when I let of the gas and start coasting. It only happens when it is in overdrive and between 1600 to 2000 rpm’s. I am running a tune from a stock tune from DP-Tuner and a 4 inch turbo back exhaust. Truck seems to be running fine. I plugged my Tuner in and no codes were found (it is a SCT). Has anybody experienced this? Does anybody know what could be the cause?
Are all of the vitals other than no thrown codes OK? Oil, coolant, air, fuel filters? Does it feel like maybe it's the converter having issues with free/lock conditions? Kinda' odd. I've got nuthin' but questions on this one. My truck has tow/haul, no OD so I've no frame of test reference either.
I have the tow/haul. no codes. Just changed the fuel filters. The only thing that I can think is that the torc converter is locking up. Ford did a powerflush on my tranny and that is when this started. I did yank the cat of but I didn't notice any change's untill after the tranny flush.

So you have tow/haul and overdrive? this is an either/or situation.

So take it back to Ford and tell them what's going on. Sound like it may be the converter locking/freeing/locking...
i have the occasional loping, but its only at idle and it has never happened while driving, its very intermitint so it doesnt really bother me. it only happens when im at a stop and the engine revs just jump a little? like maybe 100 rpm's or so? im not to worried about it, and i cant seem to pinpoint it on anything?
slowmans, Sounds like a faulty ICP. I had a similar lope on my 03 which didn't really bother me for quite awhile until one day it was about 400-500 rpm lope. The dealer replaced the ICP and no more lope
If you have the torqueshift you have over drive and tow/haul. overdrive is not selective when you put the tranny in (D) you are in overdrive. All tow/haul does is change the shift timing ,causes it to shift up later or down earlier. If you put the tranny in 3rd thats the gear you stay in no matter the speed, the same with all the other shift positions except (D).
Injector Control Pressure sensor- From what I experienced and others have reported (on the FTE) the ICP sensor can be difficult to troubleshoot and is the root of some intermittant problems. My 03 had been loping at idle for several months and got progressively worse. One day it was loping quite severely when I was driving by the Ford dealer- They looked at it immediately and were able to determine the faulty ICP after running a series of tests. Never loped again after it was replaced
This site rules! I have an 04' that has all of these symptoms. It started 6 months ago, so i unplugged the egr. It had never acted up again, until I had the batteries diconnected last weekend (installing gauges! ). I have read the battery installation file in this section, and I didn't hook my batteries up correctly. I'm heading out to the garage now to reconnect my batteries correctly. But I think it might be this ICP sensor.
