Too short to reach the clutch - 1988

When they removed the seat, however, they discovered original weld slag from the manufacturer had dripped into the track slightly limiting the forward travel by the inch or two I needed to get me comfortably to the pedals. This was filed off and I've had no trouble driving it now! I didn't need the bracket! Cost was about $100.
I should mention that I also knew something wasn't right to begin with, because my oruiginal 1990 Bronco II that I ordered and bought new from the factory back in the day, allowed me to rotate the driver's seatback forward enough to get groceries into the back seat, yet this 1988 did not have hardly any room to even get my arm through the clearance between the pillar and the seat, so I was suspicious from the start. But everyone kept telling me that's the way most 2 door trucks were designed and entry/egress to the rear seating was only through the passenger side. I knew different from my own original 1990, but assumed it was a model difference, not a manufacturer defect.
While it may be true that for 1988 and other model years, the design for rear human entry/egress is passenger side only, I still knew there should have been more space between pillar and seat back on the driver side, for slipping at least items through the opening. Removing that weld slag from the seat track, gave me that room and a couple more inches of forward adjustment!
I have a post about it in this forum somewhere with photos, if you do a search. Good luck either way!
