Electrical Problems... Please Help????

Well the old girl has been running great lately and today when I got in my truck after work my Air Bag Light stayed on all the way home.

Then about half way home my overdrive light started flashing (trans shifted fine).

When I got home I shut her off and my accessories still had power. If I turned the wipers on the power to the radio would try to shut off.

It rained most of the day so I think water got in somewhere. Anyone have any ideas??

Thanks...

Sounds like the GEM module. Do a search and you'll find a mountain of info and diagrams.

I think Empiretc has nailed it. the GEM is above the fuse panel under the dash check the connector closely for corrosion and/or water stains

The generic electronic module (GEM) is the only multifunction module on this vehicle.

The GEM constantly monitors its subsystems for concerns. If a concern is found in one of the subsystems, the GEM will record the concern in the form of a diagnostic trouble code (DTC).

The ignition switch position is very important to the GEM function. Often times, erratic or unexpected GEM function can be traced to problems with these GEM inputs.

The GEM controls a variety of systems:

4-wheel drive functions
front and rear wiper/washer
warning chimes
keyless entry
interior and exterior lamps
power windows

So is it a printed circuit board? or a microprocessor? I think you could service it w/ the correct training, diagrams and tools.

If that (GEM) doesn't give you any love, make sure you don't have a short in the steering column wiring harness. Oh yeah, the ignition and OD wire along with others runs through that and can make your life miserable. Pull the cover off and inspect closely.
