Limited Slip Question
I have a LS 4.10 DRW (Dana 80) rear axle. I recently changed the fluid to the Ford 75w140 synthetic (by accident) and added a bottle of the Friction Modifier (amount as specified in the owner's manual I think 8oz). When on a slippery surface under light acceleration the rear end makes loud noises and begins to vibrate/hop. If I accelerate harder and make the wheels spin the vibration/hopping stops. Is this a characteristic of a LS diff with too much modifier, not enough, wrong fluid?

I cant see the synthetic fluid hurting you, but the 8 oz of modifier is probably too much. Many of the guys here have found the LS to work better by adding less modifier. Not positive but I think they are starting out at around 4 oz, then testing and adding an ounce or so at a time till they get it right. Every rear is probably a little different due to wear. We have some pretty knowledgable rear end guys here that should be along shortly that can maybe give you some better info.
