Folks I have a problem. See a few years ago I removed the main leaf(the thick one) from my rear springs in my '91 f-150 to get the level look. I've since reinstalled them but I can tell a difference. Seems like the springs are weeker. This is very notable when I put anything more than about 200 lbs. in the back. I don't want to put the money into a new set of spring stacks but I want to haul stuff and pull my trailers and boat. Anyone have any good ideas that would help beef up the rear(but not raise it)that will cost less than around $200?
If the springs are weak then the springs are weak. If the truck is sagging after loading anything more than 200 lbs then it sounds like the springs are in fact pretty weak. Theres no magic spray that can bring the strength back into them (if there is let me know!!). Looks like you'll need some new springs. Could probably get away with an add-a-leaf or 2 and call it a day.
EDIT: Realized you said you didn't want the truck to sit any higher... In that case it sounds like you'll need to either swap out some of the leafs or just buy a new spring pack... I can't think of any other option really....
you probably destroyed them when you ran them with the main leaf, they went made to run that way. it is far better to take out 1 or 2 of the smaller leafs than to take out the main. if you go to a junk yard you will be able to get some good ones for way less than 200 dollers.
I only paid $40 for my rear leafs from a junk-yard. Came off a truck that had almost no rust on it and they even still had the paint and all the sliders.
