trans identification

I am in process of buying a 67 F100 with a 352 and an auto trans.I know a C6 at a glance but I don't have a clue what trans this truck has.I didn't get a real good look at it but it has a short (4 - 5 inches or so) tail section that is held in place by 6 bolts.Any ideas? Sorry the description is so vague but I was more concerned with stuff like cab mounts. Thanks in advance.

I think that this must be the pickup version of the 3-speed Cruiseomatic. Is the yoke fixed with a slip joint in the driveshaft? Is the bellhousing (aluminum?) a separate piece from the (cast iron?) case? Not as tough as a C6, but will get the job done if not abused. I rebuilt a '65 unit for my Dad which had 75,000 on it and was getting sluggish going into gear. It went another 75,000 with no problems, including a cross-country tow @ 10,000 pounds CGVW. It was still working fine when I pulled it out to put in a T-98 because I knew it would handle towing better. I found it to be an easy trans for a beginner to work on. Put a trans cooler on it if you tow and keep the fluid fresh.

Clay, The Cruse-O-Matic (FMX family) is what would have come from the factory.

Bill, Most folk may recognize FMX and might not MX.

They could be cousins you know, or maybe cousins in law.

Thanks guys for all the help. John you're right, I've heard of FMX but this is the first time for MX. The current owner and I agreed on a price so I have to meet with him Monday to transfer cash and title.Looks like I'll be spending a lot more time in the 67 - 72 forum.
