Just heard awhile ago on the local news that Ford is recalling all the new Ford trucks with the new 6.4 diesel engines due to flames coming out of the exhaust. Thats all they said, that does not seem right with that new filter thing they have to put on the exhaust. Poor Ford, our 7.3s look even better then ever.
Well, it makes sense. The reason for the diffuser tip is to help cool the exhaust gasses once they leave the DPF. It is extremely hot, way hotter than 1200*, to reburn the exhaust to clean it. I love my 7.3.
I remember attending a street race when I was 15. My friend's fox body stang spit out two ***** of fire when he shifted 1-2 and 2-3. It wasn't a terribly fast car--high 12s--but it sure had psychological impact. Maybe ecological too? :-)
[QUOTE=amiller93]1 million miles of testing and this just snuck up on them. Something just ain't right about this.
so for the 1 million miles of testing, thats bench testing im betting with different exhaust system, navistar built the motor, then they give to ford, just like all the other problems in the past, it wasnt normaly a navistar issue, but something ford added or reconfigured to suit, like this new fangeled P/F. whos design was that.
and can some one tell me why ford would detune the F450. the way i see it,
a bigger truck needs more HP not less,
bigtorque, having that much torque while pulling all that weight is very hard on every component of the drive train, it is only detuned with the 4.88 gears
i dont want to brag... but i think we got the good ones with the 7.3. i'd rather have flames shooting out my tailpipe than the head gaskets flying off my 6.0!
