Crew Cab rear door rust
I just noticed that my 04 CC rear doors have small rust spots. If you open the rear doors and look at the inside top forward corner of both doors there is a spot that rubs on the upper body weather strip. Over time (and a small amount) opening and closing the door rubs the paint right off. I am wondering if others with Crew Cabs are seeing this and how they dealt with it. The problem is even if I have it painted it would just happen again as there does not seem to be a way to correct the rub.

I dont have a crew cab but I have a super cab. I have the same problem the weather strip wears the pait right off. Last year I repainted the leading edges of the doors myself. Sanded down to bare metal, solvent prep, primer, base coat, and clear coat. Came out pretty good. A year later the paint is wore through again. I will paint it one more time and buy the clear 3M scotchguard protective film and cover the edges with it and be done with it. If that shows some wear you can peel it off and put on another piece.

The sand and salt does it for me. I checked all summer and it held up good. The winter took its toll on it.
